Colorado Peer & Family Specialist

Ricky Stanton brings a wealth of experience, both personal and professional, to his role as a Peer Recovery Coach at Creating Connections Recovery Services. Having navigated his own journey through addiction and recovery, Ricky understands firsthand the challenges of rebuilding a life from the ground up.
Ricky spent five years battling meth addiction, a struggle that led to legal troubles and time in prison for drug-related charges. Before this difficult period, Ricky pursued his education and a career in Human Services, work that has always been his passion. While his addiction derailed his path for a time, it ultimately gave him a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by those he now serves.
Since achieving sobriety in 2016, Ricky has dedicated his life to helping others rebuild theirs. He began working at St. Francis Center as a Case Manager, where he has spent six years supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and navigating reentry. In 2024, he took the next step in his journey by becoming a Peer Recovery Coach with Creating Connections Recovery Services.
Ricky is certified in Mental Health First Aid, trained in Trauma-Informed Care, and has extensive experience in homeless services, reentry navigation, and recovery-focused care. These qualifications, combined with his lived experience, allow him to approach his work with empathy, authenticity, and a deep commitment to meeting clients where they are.
Ricky’s recovery coaching is rooted in the belief that everyone’s journey is unique and requires individualized support. His approach is client-centered and strengths-based, focusing on empowering clients to discover their resilience and set achievable goals. He emphasizes building trust, creating a nonjudgmental space for open dialogue, and fostering connections to supportive resources. Ricky also draws on his personal story to inspire hope, demonstrating that change is possible no matter how difficult the road may seem.
Through his work, Ricky seeks to be a guide and ally for individuals navigating the path to recovery, offering the kind of understanding and support that can only come from someone who has walked the same road.
