When we think of health and living a healthy lifestyle, we typically think of our physical health. We may take into consideration what we are eating, how much we are exercising, and how well we are sleeping. While these are important pillars of our health, we sometimes forget about our mental health. We don't consider if we are socializing enough or even too much. Going to the store or school, seems like such a daunting task, yet we still push through. Sometimes getting out of bed requires us to muster all of our strength, but the rest of the day cannot end fast enough. We struggle to say "no" to those around us because we care so much about what everyone else thinks. Being alone feels frightening, and being around others is exhausting. We drift through the days constantly pushing the little voice that says "I'm not okay" to the side, so our loved ones won't worry. It's time to be honest: that is not healthy living.
Mental health is no longer an issue that we can keep ignoring nor stuffing in a shoebox in the back of our closets. Currently, more than 1 in 5 adults in the US are experiencing some type of mental health issue. That means even those closest to us may be struggling. That person may even be you. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 60% of adults did not receive mental health services in the last year. BIPOC sought services significantly less than white Americans.
At Creating Connections Counseling Services, we aim to reduce the stigma that often comes with mental health conditions and provide more accessible services. We create a space that is safe and encourages your healing.
We believe our values are our foundation, and they empower us to better support our clients.
